Closing Illustration to May 7th's Sermon:
“Thank you, it was time, time to listen, time for my hidden hurts to heal Time to face the demons of depression, time to let go of all the millstones I’d carried for so many years. Time to seek professional care, time to trust somebody with my story. It was time to shout out at God, time to cry tears that were never cried before. Time to forgive those who stole innocence. Time to understand why those who could have helped, didn’t. Time to see the tears that God cried when I felt left so very alone. Time to fall in love with Jesus all over again. It’s time to start loving myself the way God loves me. It’s time for an emotional, professional and spiritual sabbatical. It’s time for a shift in my thinking. It’s time to focus more on my character than on my performance. Time to see that the Lord loves me for who I am not what I do. It’s time to laugh again. It’s time to love again. Time to climb a mountain, to run barefoot in the sand. Time to play with my children. It’s time to see how beautiful my wife is and how her eyes still light up my life. It’s time to appreciate her for just the way God made her. It’s time to go golfing with a long lost friend. It’s time to realize how lucky I am to have a living picture of what God’s grace looks like. It’s time to praise God for a friendly smile or the words of a song or in a story I see a picture of Jesus. It’s time to start living.”
